Thanks to a new partnership with the City of Hobart, the 2024 Think Big Run The Bridge is on a mission to make Hobart healthier.
November 30, 2023

In an Australian mass participation first, we’ve got 1500 free entries to giveaway to people who have never done a fun run before.  There are three simple criteria to be eligible;

  1. Never participated in a fun run before
  2. Live in the Greater Hobart region
  3. Commit to attending our coached training sessions (5 if doing the 5km, 10 if doing the 10km)

“We know that 67.%% of Tasmanian’s are overweight or obese.  We also know many people are doing it tough financially.  So this program is about removing barriers of money and knowledge to get healthier,” Race Director Richard Welsh said.

Group training sessions with qualified coaches will be provided twice a week for 10 weeks leading up to the February 18 event.

“Summer starts tomorrow, so what better time to commit to getting healthy and active.  If you’re a complete rookie to running and don’t know where to start.  This is the program for you.  Alternatively, if you just need a bit of motivation to get out the door and be more active, come join us for motivation.

Three key target areas will be focussed on to find the 1500 new entrants; Healthy Hobart participants, members of the Multicultural Society of Tasmania and 8 specially selected schools in great Hobart.  Participants can choose from any of the four events to participate in;

  • Spectran Group 10km
  • Positive Salary Packaging 5k Walk
  • Epic 5k Run
  • Liv-eat 1km

Training will be held every Tuesday and Thursday, starting 12th December.  Meeting point will be the Domain Cross Roads Ovals, at the Max Cherry Infinity Loop.
